52 Memories: Football

This weekend is the AFL Grand Final. I am not a football fan, but as you can see the crazy band of misfits i am related to are. Jack is so passionate about it he has a Tattoo and a Lucky bear.

Rumour has it that my great grandmother used to have a football gnome on her fireplace, when her team lost she turned it to face the wall.

My mum, was a mad passionate Essendon fan, and then later an Eagles fan, (that’s her in the wheelchair meeting her favourite team, on her last trip out in 2012) (Photo credit RG)

For Mum Grand Final day was a party day, balloons and streamers in her teams colours, and  enough food to feed a football team. I recall days where the lounge room was set up, to watch. Jack even held football day a few times using the projector to screen it, with park benches set up in the lounge.
