100 Days of All About Me Day #70: What Was Your First Job?

Day #70: What was your first job?

When I lived in a Mining Town, I would help my Mum & Her friend with Cleaning, I also Babysat the friends young baby. I worked in the mine camp kitchen as well.

My first real Job as an adult (I was 21) was in a Hospital, as a Cleaner / kitchenhand. I was also doing courses (Hospitality / cooking / clerical) This lead to me also doing clerical work within the hospital. I moved around to different departments, hospitals, mental health units, the education dept. I stayed within the Health Dept. for 12 years (by this time I was Married with a 4 year old).

I would say that Child-minding (Babysitting) would have been my first job. Looking after kids was always fun..

I do remember one night looking after some kids, the family lived in a really old home. The home had a really creepy eerie feeling about it. Probably not helped by a Storm being outside. Someone knocking on the window looking for the owners, and a staircase to an attic. The house creaked and groaned, the trees rustled on the old tin roof. This particular nigh I put the children to bed, and one was crying so I went to go and tend to them only to discover that I couldn’t open the door. It was like it was being held shut on the other side. Eventually it opened and the child was fine. But it does remain one of the most scarier nights.

Also in the same town I was helping out in the Mining Camp kitchen and each afternoon was the mine blast, this particular day I was in the freezer and the door was shut behind me when it went off. OMG!!!!!! Felt like an earthquake..

I did enjoy some of the jobs I have done, some I hated with a passion and was glad when I got out of their each day.

These days I enjoy my own time and being able to set my own hours. (mind you I don’t get paid for it)!
