52 Ancestors

Week 16: Storms Considering the weird weather across much of the U.S. and Canada this past week, maybe “Storms” isn’t the best prompt! Do you have an ancestor who survived a storm (or didn’t)? Did they fight a storm, literal or figurative? Is there one with a weather-related name?

I have been thinking long and hard about what to write for this post and as I was opening this up it popped into my mind about Cyclone Alby in Western Australia on 4th April 1978. We where living in Busselton at the time, where the Cyclone ripped through the town.

This is from my memories only so I may be completely off with the details as I was only about 5 at the time.

  • My Grandfather Bob used to drive the Train on the Jetty in Busselton and that was destroyed.
  • Dad had a boat and I do recall something happening with that and the storms.
