Which ancestor would you most want to invite to dinner?

A family dinner party with my parents and grandparents. I would video it, so I have something to look back on, and not have to recall what questions have or haven’t been answered.

Do you have a story of a memorable dinner with an ancestor?

The photo above of my grandmother and I was taken at my Aunts place.

But the most memorable dinners where at my Mum’s. She would always cook such hearty meals like roast dinners and there was always an occasion. My sister and I brought Mum a “Faux” Royal Dalton Old Country Roses dinner set in the 90’s. She absolutely loved it, over the years I added some real pieces to it and she ended up with quite a collection. That dinner set was always front and centre for our family. There where many meals shared on those plates and occasions celebrated. When Mum passed away I was given the set, and for a couple of years we used it each day for dinner / general use. It now sits in a box under the stairs. One day I may bring it out and use it again.

Is there a special recipe that’s been handed down?

Both Mum and Nan LOVED to cook, and I will always remember being in the kitchen with them, watching & learning.

Some of our favourite family meals have been shared here Family Recipe.

For our little family it’s been

Around 15 or so years ago my Mum wrote up a series of recipes in little books and gave one to all of the daughters & nieces in the family. I have no idea what ever came of mine but for years I have been trying to locate the recipes that where in that book, I have asked family members to copy some and nothing has came of it.

I have tried adding what I can to My Family Cookbook (which is part of My Story Books) and other books over the years, I just need to get them all in one place and one day cook all of these meals up and take photos.
