#52 Stories / How does your family celebrate significant milestones?

How does your family celebrate significant milestones?

For our Family, A milestone would be a

  • Christening / Baptism
  • Birthdays – 1st, 16th, 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th and so on. (we would have other parties scattered in between).
  • Engagements, Wedding, Major Wedding Anniversaries.
  • Housewarmings
  • Even Wakes & Funerals

When my Mum was still alive, there would be a huge party, and anyone who was anyone would be invited. It would involve a Large cake for whatever the occasion was (usually loving cooked my Mum for days before the big event). There would be speeches and the opening of gifts, Lots of Food, a spit roast, lots of alcohol, Dancing and some singing and the festivities would go well into the night. There would be laughing and the joy of just being together. I was so lucky to be able to take photos for many of these events.

These days it’s just Jack, Angel & Myself so it’s mostly just a cake a quick happy birthday and hanging out together watching a movie. Very low key these days. I do try and make it an occasion, but it will never be like Mum did it. She really was the party queen.
